More commonly referred to as PRC, the Pennsylvania Resources Council is recognized as a state and national leader in waste reduction, recycling, litter and visual blight prevention, watershed awareness and composting. The council strives to influence environmental living choices and maintains a well-established network and reputation with schools, community organizations, businesses, state and local government agencies, and other environmental nonprofit organizations. Additionally, PRC sponsors many Hard-to-Recycle, E-Waste, Household Chemical and Pharmaceutical Collections throughout Pennsylvania every year.

The building employs sustainable exterior retrofits such as a driveway and parking lot made of recycled tire asphalt and faux slate roofs from recycled aluminum. The landscaping keeps green practices in mind, including backyard composting, vermi-composting, a rain garden, and rain barrels. The inside has carpeting made from recycled materials, as well as energy-efficient lighting. Finally, the 250 year-old farmhouse is housing a 5 KW photo-voltaic solar energy system, because it helps offset their electricity use.
