Lila Godwin is a 9-year-old painter whose nature-inspired watercolors feel right at home in SHIFT (and perfectly timed for NarbART’s First Friday celebration of local artists). From animals to abstract landscapes, her work reflects a genuine curiosity about the natural world and a commitment to the environment that aligns with everything we stand for here.

Lila is also one of the first vendors in SHIFT Greenhouse, our newest program dedicated to cultivating the talents of young entrepreneurs.

Meet the Young Entrepreneur

Lila Godwin is a fourth-grader at Penn Wynne Elementary School with a painter’s eye and an entrepreneur’s heart. Inspired by a street artist she encountered while traveling in Portugal, Lila began selling her paintings in her neighborhood and has been dreaming of a shop of her own ever since. She chose SHIFT deliberately, drawn to its mission of sustainability and environmental stewardship, values she shares as a Girl Scout and an avid lover of the outdoors.

Working in watercolor, Lila draws inspiration from nature, animals, and abstract art, developing her skills through the books and techniques of artist Emily Lex. Whether she’s painting from imagination or from the wooded trails she sought out on a spring break trip to the Pocono Mountains, her work carries the freshness and wonder of someone who sees the world with wide-open eyes.
